Port-of-Spain Criminal Investigations Department is currently investigating the death of inmate Shurland Brown.
He was an inmate at the Port-of-Spain Prison.
On March 27th, around midday, police received a report of a fracas taking place at the Port-of-Spain Prison.
Upon further investigation, officers learned five inmates and 17 prison officers were injured.
The injured inmates were taken to Port-of-Spain General Hospital for medical attention where they were treated and later discharged.
Interviews were also conducted with the injured prison officers, while they were being treated for their injuries.
On March 29th, Shurland Brown died while receiving medical attention at the hospital.
