There will be a lot more COVID reinfections based on the characteristics of the current variants in circulation.
So says geneticist Dr Nicole Ramlachan as she emphasized the importance of vaccination and booster shots.
Dr Ramlachan told Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show that the new variants are more contagious and much more infectious.
She warned that while this may not translate to severe disease and death, immuno-compromised persons should be careful.
Dr Ramlachan added that the vaccines are still effective against all the current COVID variants as none of the variants have mutated so far away as to prevent the vaccine from working.
