Central Bank Indicates T&T Is In A Depression But One Economist Remains Optimistic

Data from the Central Bank indicates this country is in a depression.

However, economist, Roger Hosein, is remaining confident there is hope in turning around the situation.

Mr Hosein, during an interview on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital, today, said fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic was one of the factors which contributed to the development.

Mr Hosein said in spite of some positive trends in terms of the labour market opening back up, the economy still contracted.

The economist said there are high points which can be drawn from the situation and all is not lost in dealing with the realities to fix the economy.

Mr Hosein also commented on the issue of the gas subsidy reflecting on the significance of it to the population and the importance of gradually weaning the population off the measure.
