Buccoo Reef sailing delayed on Saturday following bomb threat

There was a bomb threat at the Port Authority Compound in Tobago on Saturday.

The Police and Fire Service responded to the incident and roads in the vicinity of the port were temporary closed.

The incident was outlined in a statement issued Saturday on Facebook by the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA).

It’s statement read:

The public is advised there may be a delayed sailing of the Buccoo Reef Inter-Island Ferry from the Scarborough port today Saturday, January 22nd. This is as a result of a bomb threat at the Port Authority Compound, Tobago.

The TTPS, TTFS and all other relevant authorities are already onsite investigating the matter.

An official correspondence by the Port Authority would be issued soon with more details.

In a subsequent release, around 8:58pm, TEMA announced that the roads in and around Scarborough were reopened.

They said, “Passengers who were asked to disembark the Buccoo Reef Inter-Island ferry earlier, have started reboarding the ferry.
The processing of passengers is underway and the inter-island ferry is scheduled to depart the Scarborough Port soon.”
