Black Rock man feared drowned during fishing trip

A 21-year-old Tobago man reportedly drowned during a fishing expedition yesterday.

Richie Cox of Fort Bennett, Black Rock, went fishing with a friend at Black Beach in an orange kayak around 4pm.

His friend told police he was concerned about the rough seas but Cox insisted they still go out.

The men put the kayak in the water to sail across to Grafton Beach.
However, the man said the water started to fill the kayak and as such they abandoned it and attempted to swim.

He reported that the current started to pull them in, but they eventually reached the rocks.

The man said he got to the Rock safely but Cox went underwater and has not been seen since.

Tobago police are investigating.
