‘Black Panther’ spin-off series coming to Disney+ this year

A “Black Panther” spinoff series is set to debut on Disney+ this year.

According to ScreenRant, the series “Eyes of Wakanda” will span various time zones, following a diverse range of characters searching for dangerous vibranium artifacts. The cast has not yet been revealed.

Here’s the logline: “Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.”

“Eyes of Wakanda” does not yet have a release date.

A year ago, “Black Panther” star Danai Gurira hinted that a spin-off series was in the works for her character.

In the original blockbuster Marvel movie, Gurira’s character, Okoye, leads an army of female soldiers called the Dora Milaje. The group also stands guard over the royal family. Okoye also appears in “Avengers: Infinity War, “Avengers: Endgame” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

Gurira said a spin-off based on Okoye could be added to the MCU.

“I have been told that I can gently allude to this possibility. Just gently,” she said of the possible series during an interview with Stephen Colbert.

The Hollywood Reporter announced in 2021 that Gurira’s lawyer, Jamie Mandelbaum, “brokered a deal for actress Danai Gurira to not only reprise her role as Okoye in the upcoming Black Panther sequel but also in an origin spin-off series for Disney+.”
