“Animals Are Human Too” Urges Dog Owners To Comply With Stipulated Of Dangerous Dogs Act

Persons with dogs are being urged to comply with the various requirements stipulated in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

The Act came into force on August 1, 2012, by presidential proclamation.

The advice comes from President of the NGO group; Animals are Human Too, Nalini Dial.

It follows the reported attack by a mixed American bully dog on eleven year old, Rachel Bhagwandeen, who visited her family in Vistabella on Thursday.

The dogs categorized as dangerous under the Act include pitbull terriers, Fila Brasileiros, and Japanese Tosas, as well as any dog derived from these breeds.

Speaking with News Power Now in an interview Thursday afternoon, Ms Dial outlined some of the requirements which are supposed to be followed by persons with dangerous dogs.

Ms Dial said the registration of dangerous dogs and inspection are two other areas which are under the act.
