Addressing drainage, desilting and improving infrastructure are high on the agenda of the Ministry of Works and Transport according to Minister, Rohan Sinanan.
Speaking in the parliament on Wednesday, Minister Sinanan said the 167 million dollars given to the Ministry for drainage and flooding will be used to desilt water courses and upgrade flood and pump gates.
He dismissed claims by the Opposition that this week’s flooding caused destruction and human suffering adding there was flash flooding following rainfall which lasted for about one hour.
