Six charges have been laid against Police Constable Nicholson George who was recorded arresting a traffic warden on January 30.
The charges were laid following advise from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Roger Gaspard.
In a letter sent to the Director of the Police Complaints Authority (PCA), David West, on February 3rd, Senior Superintendent of the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB), Suzette Martin, noted that a report was filed with the PSB on January 30.
The incident between PC George and Traffic Warden Monifa Henville occurred at Frederick Street, Port-of-Spain, near Ritual’s Coffee House.
The DPP advised that the officer be charged for:
*Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm
*Obstructing a Traffic Warden in the execution of duty (No 067 Traffic Warden Monifa Henville),
*Obstructing a Traffic Warden in the execution of duty (No 493 Traffic Warden Shinnek Mathlin),
*Failing to comply with directions of Traffic Warden
*Failing to comply with directions of Traffic Warden
*Failing to produce driver’s permit to Uniformed Police Officer
