UNC PRO says double standards in uproar over Party’s absence at Inependence celebrations

As far as the Opposition United National Congress is concerned there is nothing to celebrate on the 60th Anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago Independence.

This is according to UNC PRO Kirk Meighoo.

UNC party officials yesterday didn’t respond to queries on the Opposition’s no-show at the QPS function, where Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley was greeted with loud applause.

Speaking with News Power Now this morning, Meighoo said that chronic issues that need to be attended to have not been attended to by the ruling People’s National Movement.

He said that celebrations at this point simply amount to hypocrisy and the Party has no intention of being a part of that.

He said the PNM took the same action ten years ago and there was no uproar at the tiome.

He said that there is a double standard that the UNC rejects.

The UNC PRO said the Party also took issue with a decision by the PNM as it relates to collections at the old Library.
