2 remanded on firearm and ammunition charges

Two men were remanded into custody after appearing before Port-of Spain Magistrate Maureen Baboolal–Gafoor on December 24th, jointly charged with possession of firearm and ammunition.

ANTHONY ALEXANDER aka “Blacka” of Lanse Mitan Road, Carenage, and DOMINIQUE NIVET of Upper Dundonald Hill, St James were both denied bail until tracing.
The men are expected to reappear on December 28th.

The duo was arrested in separate incidents during an Operation Strike Back III exercise conducted by officers of the Western Division Task Force.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to Dundonald Hill, St James armed with a search warrant. Upon arrival, officers conducted a search of the apartment, where a Glock pistol, with thirteen rounds of ammunition, was seized. Dominique Nivet was immediately arrested and subsequently charged.

As the exercise continued, the officers proceeded to Lanse Mitan, Carenage where a search warrant was issued to Anthony Alexander.

During the search of the house, a Sig Sauer pistol loaded with nine rounds of ammunition was discovered under a washing machine.

Anthony Alexander was cautioned, arrested and subsequently charged. Enquires are ongoing.
