Wembanyama targets Championship ring after #1 draft pick

Victor Wembanyama says he intends to win an NBA championship ring after the San Antonio Spurs chose him as the number one overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft.

The 19-year-old Frenchman is regarded as one of the game’s biggest prospects and one of the most coveted picks since LeBron James in 2003.

Wembanyama is listed at 7ft 5in and has an 8ft wingspan.

Wembanyama played in the French league last season where he averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 assists per game.

LA Lakers star LeBron James who saw him play last year has described him as “an alien” and “a generational talent”.

Brandon Miller, a 6ft 9in 20-year-old was the number two pick in the draft and went to the Charlotte Hornets.

Scoot Henderson was chosen by the Portland Trail Blazers as the third pick.

The 20-year-old identical twins Amen and Ausar Thompson made up the top five picks moving to the Houston Rockets and the Detroit Pistons respectively.
