A WASA employee was killed in a fatal jobsite accident in San Fernando on Sunday.
WASA confirmed via a release that Kern Etienne was involved in carrying out emergency repair works on a sewer pipeline along the Rienzi Kirton Highway, where an incident occurred and he became trapped in a trench.
Reports state that a mound of dirt collapsed on top of him as he was standing inside a 12-feet trench.
Etienne was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment, but succumbed to his injuries.
HIs twin brother, Kerdelle, told media said the information obtained by the family was that proper safety measures were not in place.
The Authority says a full-scale investigation will be conducted.
