The office of UNC Councillor Richard Sukdeo, was firebombed on Wednesday night.
Sukdeo told police that he secured his office at LP#272 Southern Main Road, Cunupia around 4pm yesterday and left.
However, around 9 pm last night, Sukdeo was contacted and told that the building was on fire.
Police officers, along with fire officers, quickly responded and the fire officers were able to extinguish the small blaze before it spread.
Initial investigations determined that a window located to the western side of the building was broken and a burnt piece of cloth in a Carib bottle was seen in the interior of the building. They also detected a strong scent of an accelerant.
Investigations are continuing.
