UN donates dignity kits and office equipment to OPM’s Child Affairs

The United Nations has donated kits to T&T, comprised of items useful to women and girls during times of personal crisis or emergency.

A formal handover ceremony took place between the Office of the Prime Minister, Child Affairs and the UN’s Development Programme and Population Fund on Monday, 18th December.

UNFPA handed over 474 dignity kits which contain backpacks of sanitary napkins and other personal care items such as bath and laundry soaps, toothpaste, toothbrushes, underwear, shampoo, towel, and a flashlight.

Minister in Office of the Prime Minister Ayanna Webster-Roy explained how the kits could help victims of domestic violence.

Meanwhile, the UNDP has offered office, bedroom and living room furniture, office equipment as well as kitchen appliances for use at the National Domestic Violence Shelter.

This, the Ministry says, is in an effort to improve services rendered to victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
