Twelve foot, 100 lb yellow Burmese Python seized in Las Lomas

Game wardens attached to the Ministry of Agriculture seized Burmese python illegally kept in an old, non-functional freezer outside a house in Las Lomas. Offi¬cers of the Central Game Warden Unit yesterday led by senior game warden Richard Ramlogan, executed the operation after being tipped off anonymously.
The operation also included officers of the North-East Praedial Larceny Unit, led by Cpl Jeffers, and snake handlers from the Emperor Valley Zoo.
Ramlogan said his team was informed about the snake a Python weighing 100 pounds (45 kilogrammes) and is more than 12 feet (3.7 metres) long being kept at the house in Kallian Street, Las Lo¬mas Number Two, where a 57-year-old man lives. A warrant was obtained to search the pre¬mises and team of game wardens, praedial larceny officers and handlers from the Emperor Valley Zoo went to the house yesterday afternoon.
Villagers were reportedly scared for their lives, especially their children’s, and contacted us about the snake. They might have seen homeowner taking it out of the enclosure to feed it,”
