Tropical Wave weakens, still expected to bring heavy rains

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) continues to monitor a Tropical Wave in the Atlantic with the leading edge of activity approximately 380 km east of Barbados.

The wave has weakened slightly over the past 24 hours and now has a very low (10%) chance of development over the next 48 hours.

Activity associated with the Tropical Wave is forecast to reach the Lesser Antilles later today and is expected to produce gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall mainly across the Leeward Islands.

The TTMS said it will continue to closely monitor this system and will issue an update at 10:00 am tomorrow or
earlier if the situation warrants.

As always, persons should pay close attention to information being issued by the TTMS by visiting www.metoffice.gov.tt, downloading the mobile app (search: TT Met Office).

Persons can also follow their social media accounts for updates.
