Tobago police detain 5, seize firearms, ammo and drugs

Five persons were arrested two firearms, eight rounds of ammunition and 12.314 grams of marijuana seized by officers of the Tobago Division within the last 24 hours.

During a warrant exercise officers proceeded to a home at Gaskin Bay Road, Bon Accord, whilst searching the premises they found twelve rectangular bricks, and one transparent plastic bag containing three plastic packages and one small transparent packet of marijuana in the bedroom located on the southern side of the house. A male suspect was arrested taken to the Scarborough Police Station. The drug weighed 7.482 Kilograms.

The exercise continued and officers proceeded to George Street, Feeder Road, Canaan where a comprehensive search was carried out at an un-fenced property, officers found a white hard plastic keg buried in the ground containing marijuana with a weight of 4.832 kilograms, and one MACK 10 firearm, with an extended magazine and eight rounds of .9mm ammunition.

Officers also executed warrants in the Scarborough Police District which resulted in the arrest of 4 persons, two on an Affiliation and two on Outstanding warrants. The officers received further information which led them to a drain at Feeder Road Extension where they found and seized one .380 Revolver.

The exercises were co-ordinated by Snr. Supt. Jackman, spearheaded by ASP Joseph, and supervised by Inspector Bacchus of the Criminal Investigations Department, Inspector Prince of the Scarborough Police Station, Inspector Stewart and included other officers of the Divisional Task Force, Charlotteville Police Station, and Criminal Investigations Department.
