THA Says Due Process Must Be Taken Following A Comment From A Contractor It Describes As Racist In Nature

A serious moral and ethical infringement, this is how the Tobago House of Assembly describes a comment made by a contractor which it describes as racist in nature.

THA Chief Secretary, Farley Augustine, said the comment was made by the contractor which was named in a media release on Monday when questioned by a reporter about a contract obtained in Tobago.

The THA said it is prepared to go as far as terminating the contract once the alleged statement is duly verified.

It said such verification is expected by Tuesday.

The THA said an investigation began on Friday.

The Assembly said an article in a daily newspaper which was published on October 28th was brought to the attention of the Chief Secretary.

It said so far, the Executive Council is advised the matter may attract some legal action.

As a result, due diligence must be taken before the THA acts.
