Southex Reports Record Number Of Entries For 2023 Chutney Soca Monarch

Close to 80 persons have registered new songs for the 2023 edition of the Chutney Soca Monarch.

Southtex, promoters of the event, says this is the largest number in more than six years.

More than ten percent of the registration has been from artistes coming from United States of America and Canada.

In a media release Southtex said registration closed on Monday.

A screening process will be held on Wednesday after which 25 songs will be selected for the Semi Final round which is scheduled for January 27^th at Screamers at South Haven, Debe.

From the Semi Final round, only 10 songs will be selected for the Grand Final which is scheduled for February 4^th at Skinner Park, San Fernando.

Southex is hoping to get the prize structure back to what it was ‘Pre-Covid’, and is hoping to offer close to $1M in prize money with a first prize of $500K, 2nd prize – 100K, 3rd prize – 75K and $35K for all other finalists.

This will be the biggest prize offering for this competition in more than three years.
