Southern businessman kidnapped, robbed and left tied to a tree

A Southern businessman was reportedly kidnapped, robbed and tied to a tree on Friday morning.

Reports state that the 26-year-old victim was driving his Nissan Xtrail in the Woodland area around 11am, when he made a stop and was approached by two armed men.

The man was robbed of personal items and then bundled back into his vehicle with the thieves, who then sped off.

A call was later made to a relative and a ransom demand of $100,000 was made.

However, the victim was discovered hours later by two men who were walking in the Basta Hall, Couva community, tied to a tree.

No ransom was paid.
Investigations are underway.
