Soldier hospitalised after allegedly stabbing women and stepping in front of PTSC bus

A soldier who was hospitalized after he allegedly stepped in front of a moving bus in San Fernando on Tuesday is suspected by police of stabbing a woman earlier that day. The suspect, of Chaguanas, is hospitalized under police guard. Police said the 20-year-old woman is also hospitalised with serious injuries.

She was found in a vehicle near the Preysal flyover in the early hours of Tuesday bleeding from stab wounds. The woman told police that there was an argument over a cell phone and she was stabbed and then left in the vehicle.
And the incident involving the suspect occurred at around 9.30 a.m. along Lady Hailes Avenue.

Police were told that in the vicinity of the walkover in Embacadere, the suspect attempted to cross the roadway from the western side to the eastern side and allegedly walked into the pathway of the bus. Several eyewitnesses told the police that the pedestrian stood on the pavement for at least half an hour before he stepped on the street as the bus approached.
Bystanders rushed to assist the victim as he fell in front of the bus upon impact. She was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital and hospitalised in stable condition.
Officers of the San Fernando Police Station and Traffic Division responded and are continuing investigations.
