Persons involved in trade facilitate the importation of guns and weapons into the country!
That’s the assertion of the President of the San Fernando Chamber Kiran Singh.
Singh noted that guns and other weapons have been finding their way onto our shores illegally.
However he also stated that there has been a proliferation of the weaponry at legal ports of entry as well.
He spoke with News Power Now recently and said that this situation directly impacts the cost of goods and this continues bring hardship for the consumers as well as add to the already high crime levels.
He insisted that something has to be done to treat with this issue as soon as possible.
He said another issue surrounds problems with customs and the importation of goods into T&T.
Singh explained that businessmen have had to deal with some custom officials demanding extra incentives to get their goods into the country.
Business men have complained that they are finding it difficult to keep prices down this holiday season and it all because of issues getting their product into the country.
