Security guard wounded during robbery in Diego Martin

A 53-year-old security officer, identified as Sheldon Lancaster, was shot and wounded while on duty in Diego Martin on Friday night.

Lancaster, of Powder Magazine, Phase One, Cocorite, is employed with PRD Security Services.

Around 7:45 pm Lancaster was on duty at the WASA Pump station in the vicinity of the Diego Martin Bus Terminus when he was approached by a lone gunman who attempted to rob him.

Reports state that a struggle ensued between Lancaster and the suspect, during which Lancaster was shot.

He was later rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

Police later arrested the suspect.
