The search is on for a Special Reserve Police officer who allegedly assaulted and injured a 56-year-old woman in Penal.
The incident allegedly occurred around 7:30 pm Thursday night, shortly after the victim secured her San Francique, Penal, home.
The victim told police she was about to step into the shower, when she heard several loud noises.
On investigating, she saw the suspect, who is known to her, in her home.
When she told the man to leave her home, he hit her and then threw a coffee table at her, which struck her in the chest.
The man then allegedly proceeded to damage several items in the home – including the woman’s stove and glasses – before leaving the scene.
The woman reported the matter to the police and was taken to the Siparia Health Facility for treatment.
The Gender Based Violence Unit has since been notified and police say that an arrest is imminent.
