San Fernando vendors not giving up; protest against removal for a second day

Determined to get the Mayor of San Fernando to change his mind, vendors who have been moved from High Street, staged a second day of protest today.

They gathered in front of San Fernando City Corporation as they pleaded with the mayor to allow them to continue to sell on High Street.

The vendors have vowed to continue protesting every day for at least a week.

However, Mayor Robert Parris is standing firm that vending will no longer be allowed on High Street, but the newly designated vending zones at Mucurapo Street and Harris Promenade.

President of the San Fernando Vendors Association, Cheryl Lawrence said, “We know although the mayor say he is not backing down, but I know we serve a God; he is mighty to save and strong to deliver. The mayor don’t have the last say God have the last say and we are trusting our God to soften this mayor to turn that heart of stone to a heart of flesh this morning . He has to remember he has his pay when the month up, we have nothing to go by.”
