An off-duty police officer was reportedly beaten and robbed shortly after he left a casino at South Park on Monday night.
The officer had just returned to his vehicle with a female relative in the car park of Princess Casino, when around 8:45 pm two suspects, one armed with a gun, accosted them.
The female passenger became afraid, opened the door and ran.
The officer came out his car and struggled with the suspects who dealt him several blows about his body.
The men then ran off, leaving the officer on the ground. An ambulance took the officer to the San Fernando General Hospital where he is being treated. Police said his condition is stable.
Unconfirmed reports state that a sum of cash was taken from the officer.
Investigations are underway.
