MSJ Claims State Owned Refinery Did Not Have To Be Closed

The Movement for Social Justice Political Leader says there was never a single study which recommended the closure of the state owned Point-a-Pierre refinery.

David Abdullah said the Lashley Committee which was set up proposed a restructuring of governance and the creation of two distinct business units, one for exploration and production and one for refining and marketing.

Speaking on the Hard Talk Programme on Power 102 Digital Monday, Mr Abdullah said details on the two main recommendations can be found when the topic is searched on the internet.

He said the government hired two consulting firms which did studies in 2016 and the contents of the reports were made available to the Lashley Committee and there was no suggestion of closure of the facility.
