MSCD, SporTT invest over $8.5M in community development and sport advancement

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago, through the Ministry of Sport and Community Development and the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT), on Friday, October 6th 2023, made a significant investment by providing funding to the tune of over $8.5 million to various entities, including National Governing Bodies (NGBs), Athletes, Individuals, and Community Groups. The Cheque Presentation Ceremony took place at the Belmont Community Centre.

During the brief ceremony, Mr. Patrice Charles, Assistant Director of the Physical Education and Sport Division, encouraged recipients to use the funds for their intended purposes while Mr. Lionel Sampson, Deputy Director of the Community Development Division, stressed the importance of using the funding to bring about positive transformations, revitalization, and empowerment within communities.

Also delivering remarks at Friday’s event was Mr Justin Latapy-George, Head of Sport Development at SporTT, who praised sport administrators for their dedication and urged the recipients to ensure that the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago benefit from these investments in their entirety, emphasizing the importance of accountability and transparency in the process.
