Ministry Of Health Receives PAHO’s Report From Review Mission

The Ministry of Health is in possession of the final report of the Pan American Health Organization Review Mission into clinical events at the   Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Port of Spain General Hospital, Trinidad and Tobago.

The PAHO team was called in to probe the deaths of several babies at the public health institution last year.

Several families whose babies died at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Port-of-Spain General Hospital filed class action lawsuit for medical negligence.

The report was delivered to the Ministry on June 21st 2024.

Having received the report, clinical and technical staff of both the Ministry and the North West Regional Health Authority will conduct an internal review of the findings.

This is in keeping with established standard practice.

Following the completion of the internal review, the entire report as submitted, will be made public.
