Massy confirms robbery at St Ann’s branch; hunt on for 5 men

Police are continuing the search for five men who staged an early morning robbery at the St Ann’s branch of Massy Stores on Sunday.

Around 6:30am, the five men, all with their faces covered and one armed with a gun, entered the compound and tied up five employees including a cashier, janitor and supervisors.

One of the supervisors was taken to an office to open two safes, then the suspects made their escape with undisclosed sum of cash in TT, United States, Barbados and Canadian currency.

They reportedly escaped in a silver Tiida.

Massy Stores, in a statement later on Sunday, confirmed the robbery and said it was co-operating with police investigations into it.

“We can confirm that our affected employees are receiving the requisite care as the health and safety of our team and customers is our priority.”

It was not clear whether the St Ann’s store would be open on Monday.
