Man shot and wounded while driving through forested area on Tabaquite Road

A man was shot and wounded while driving along Tabaquite Road last Friday night.

Around 11.45 pm, a man was driving his Toyota Axio and was followed by his friend driving a Nissan B14 through a forested area on the Tabaquite Road, towards Rio Claro, when they saw three men standing at the side of the road.

One of the drivers noticed that two of the men had guns, while the third was holding a flashlight and called on both drivers to stop. However, both drivers drove past the men and heard gunshots.

One of the men was shot on his right hand and drove some distance away before stopping his car.

Police were called in and took the wounded man to a health facility.

Officers of the Mayaro CID visited the scene and searched for the gunmen but found no one.

Crime Scene Investigators were also called in and found six spent 5.56 shells, three spent .40 shells and three live rounds of ammunition.
