2 women, 1 man shot in Sangre Grande

Three people have been left wounded, following a shooting in Sangre Grande on Friday night.

The incident took place at around 9.10 pm.

Reports state that two women ages 26 and 57-years-old were walking towards a shop on Robinson Lane, Damarie Hill, Sangre Grande, when they were shot.

A 25-year-old man who was standing near the shop at the time, heard the gunshots and ran for cover. However, he felt a burning sensation on his left leg a short while after and realised he had been hit.

Residents took the wounded trio to the hospital where the 57-year-old woman and man are said to be in stable condition, while the 26-year-old woman was said to be critical.

Police visited the scene and found 58 spent shells of mixed 5.56 and 9 mm calibre.
