“I Did Not Make Any Allegations Against The DPP”, Maintains Prime Minister

The Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, maintains he did not make any allegations against the Director of Public Prosecutions but made factual statements pertaining to a building which was rented for the DPP’s Office three years ago but is yet to be occupied.

Staffing challenges were recently highlighted by the DPP during a radio interview; he added that there is need for more attorneys.

Speaking at the weekly post cabinet news briefing Thursday, Dr Rowley said he never condemned the DPP or misrepresented Roger Gaspard Senior Counsel.

Dr Rowley said the DPP spoke on March 8th while he made remarks on March 9th at a public political meeting.

The Prime Minister said the government has never challenged or attack the work or decisions of the DPP on any matter but has dealt with facts.

Dr Rowley insisted government will not interrupt or interfere with the operations of the DPP.

Dr Rowley also commented on the decision of the DPP to discontinue the Piarco corruption case against former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday and others.
