Grande farmer shot dead, vehicle set alight

A Sangre Grande farmer was shot dead and his nude body found in the forest last night.
The man’s vehicle was also set alight.

The victim has been identified as Stefan Jury, 31, of Fleming Road, Fishing Pond, Sangre Grande.

A bar owner at Ganda Junction, Fishing Pond, reported hearing gunshots around 8.45 pm last night and later found two spent shells on the road in front his establishment.

Police were called in and later directed to a forested area at Seecharan Trace, where they discovered Jury’s body in the drain.

While at this scene, officers received information and went to Lemond Road, Fishing Pond – where they arrested a suspect from Graham Trace, Ojoe Road, Sangre Grande relative to the shooting, after he was found with a Glock 19 pistol containing one magazine and ten rounds of 9 mm ammunition under the driver seat.

The officers later went to Fleming Road where they found Jury’s Nissan Frontier truck ablaze.
