Former THA chairman Dr Jefferson Davidson dies age 95

Former Tobago House of Assembly (THA) chairman Dr Jefferson Davidson has died.

Davidson, 95, who was appointed chairman in 1986 immediately after ANR Robinson’s departure from the assembly to become Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, passed away on Saturday night at his Mt Grace home.

He did not complete his term in office and was replaced by Lennox Denoon. The Chief Secretary was then called the Chairman and the Assembly’s clerk performed the duties of the Presiding Officer.

Davidson was one of seven former assemblymen who endorsed the Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) before the General Election on August 10, 2020.
