Former NBA superstar Dwyane Wade has legally made a request to change his child’s name and gender.
According to court documents , Wade requested that his 15-year-old child’s name be changed from Zion Wade to Zaya Wade.
The request also pursues that Zion now be considered female in any and all legal documents moving forward.
Wade has apparently made the decision without the consent of the child’s mother.
He stated in the filing that he has “full authority” in filing the petition WITHOUT CONSENT from Zaya’s mother and his ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches but said she did “receive notice” of the petition “as a courtesy.”
In 2020, the former Miami Heat star told Good Morning America that Zaya has known since three-years-old that https://whitespools.com/ she was transgender.
Wade is now married to actress Gabrielle Union and they share a three-year-old daughter named Kaavia.
The pair co-parent Zaya and Wade’s two sons–20 year old Zaire and 8 year old Xavier.
