Dow Village mini-mart owner critical after being shot during robbery

A 53-year-old mini mart owner is warded in critical condition at hospital after bandits shot him during a robbery last night.

Around 8 pm, the owner of Mel’s Mini Mart at Dow Village, South Oropouche was inside his establishment, when two gunmen walked in and announced a hold-up.

They robbed the owner of an undisclosed amount of money, which represented the day’s sales.

There was a scuffle, during which the victim was shot, and the bandits ran away.

The owner was shot to his neck, chin and left knee.

A passerby took the victim to the hospital.

Officers of the South Western Division Task Force are investigating.
