CXC addresses concerns about CAPE Chemistry Paper 2 examination

CXC has responded to concerns raised about the questions in the CAPE Chemistry Unit 2 Paper 2 exam.

The exam was administered across the region on May 9th however, some felt it focused on material from the Unit 1 syllabus, and not from the Unit 2 syllabus.

CXC says it immediately launched an investigation which has since determined that the questions were designed for candidates to demonstrate their knowledge of material covered in the Unit 2 syllabus.

The Council says it stands by its robust quality assurance system which includes qualified professionals to ensure the efficacy of the exams.

It adds that the system allows for adjustments during the marking and grading process, to ensure that candidates are not negatively affected by circumstances outside of their control.
