Cudjoe: Parents must be held accountable for crimes committed by their children

Parents must be held accountable for crimes committed by their children.

This is view of Professor Selwyn Cudjoe.

Speaking at the Opposition Leader’s anti-crime talks at the Chaguanas Borough Corporation building on Monday, Cudjoe listed 16 crime-fighting recommendations in his presentation, “The quest for truth”.

Listed among them was what he described as parents’ responsibility for the errant ways of their offspring.

He cited a case in the United States where a parent was held accountable for her son’s deadly shooting rampage at a school.

On another point, he said that the public has little trust in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

He maintained that members of the public are well aware of the long arms of those behind bars who can exact revenge on those who provide information to police officers.
