COP Gary Griffith disclosed that 500 body cams are already in use by the police service and 1500 more have been ordered. The COP made the disclosure at a press conference this morning at which he dealt with the concerns in the public domain an=bout police use of force in many high risk and conflict situation in recent months. COP Griffith said the frontline members of the service will be outfitted with body cams including members of SORT, traffic officers etc. he said the standard operating procedure will be for officers to activate the body cam before engaging the public to ensure that there is evidence to verify accounts of what transpired by officers and members of the public.
