Browne: Edu Ministry working closely with police to probe Barrackpore school death threats

The Education Ministry is working closely with the Police Service as a probe continues into the death threats made to teachers and students of Barrackpore East Secondary School.

Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Dr Amery Brown, said the Ministry is doing all that is required to ensure the safety and security  of children and teachers at the school.

Dr Brown was responding on behalf of the Education Minister who was not present at the time during the Senate sitting.

He said in every instance of threat levelled against any school the Education Ministry seeks the input of the TTPS and allow the service to carry out its investigations.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby – Dolly sought to assure parents that all was being done to treat with the issue in an interview with the media.

She called for those who are responsible to desist from doing so as this has an adverse effect on students, parents and teachers.

She also appealed to anyone who had information on those responsible for the threats to speak out.
