Police were quickly on the scene after five bandits crashed their vehicle at the East Gates Mall, mere moments after one of them robbed a woman in Trincity.
Police said the woman was sitting in the driver’s seat of her car in the parking lot of Superpharm on Trincity Central Road, around 12.44 pm when a bandit opened the front passenger side door and snatched her handbag.
The bandit ran and got into a nearby Hyundai Elantra with four other men who sped off.
The driver of the vehicle lost control and crashed into a barrier in East Gates Mall.
Arouca police and officers of the North Central Division Task Force were called in and arrested the men before they could make their escape.
Police said the Elantra used by the bandits was stolen and investigators were working to trace where the car was stolen from.
Investigators suspect the bandits may also be involved in a string of other robberies in the area.
