Anita Haynes says return to schools must be done responsibly

Opposition MP Anita Haynes says that while she believes it is necessary to ensure that students move toward physical schooling it should be done in a responsible way.

She says that the return to the status quo throws all the gains made during the pandemic out the door especially with news of rising Covid cases in schools.

She was speaking on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital this morning.

So far twenty-eight students from 16 schools nationwide have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the third academic term one week ago.

This is according to information collected by the Education District Health Unit.

There are also 18 students who are still awaiting results while 92 have been quarantined.

In all, 49 of the nation’s 830 public schools have had students tested for the disease.

She said returning to pre Covid conditions will not improve the Education system.
