Tobago Scrap Iron Dealer Charged With Cable Larceny Denied Bail

A 42-year-old scrap-iron dealer was remanded into custody, when he appeared before Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

ADUPSON TOBY, of All Field Trace, Lowlands was charged with larceny, malicious damage of Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago copper cable, and obstructing transmission of telecommunication on April 21st by PC Mc Kain.

He is expected to reappear in court on Friday.

According to a police report, at around 5pm on April 19th , employees of Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago allegedly made checks on overhead 100 pair copper cables at Mt. Pleasant Main Road, Mt. Pleasant, where they found the cables to be intact. 

On April 20th the employees carried out another check in the said area and allegedly observed the cable was severed and a portion of the said cable was missing.

Based on information received, officers of the Shirvan Road Police Station, Criminal Investigation Department conducted investigations which led them to search a home located at All Field Trace, Lowlands. 

There, the officers allegedly found 30 pieces of 100 pair copper cable, which led to the arrest of one man.
