Akiel Hosein’s 5 For 11 Helps West Indies Restrict Uganda For 39 Runs To Pull Off Commanding Win In ICC World Cup

Trinidad and Tobago left-arm spinner, Akeal Hosein, took a career-best 5 wickets for eleven runs to help guide West Indies to  a 134 run win against Uganda in the ICC World Cup on Saturday.

The match was played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Hosein with the performance became the first West Indies bowler to take a five-wicket haul at a men’s T20 World Cup.

The result also meant Uganda equalled the record for the lowest total at the prestigious tournament after they were dismissed for 39 runs replying to the 173 made by West Indies.

Uganda made the runs in 12 overs and in so doing joined the Netherlands’ with the second-largest margin of defeat in the tournament’s history.

Earlier, Johnson Charles,  made 44 runs from 42 deliveries and Andre Russell made 30 not out from 17 balls which included six fours as the regional side made 173 for 5.

West Indies are second in Group C with two wins from two, behind leaders Afghanistan on net run-rate.

Uganda cricketers are third with two points from three matches.

On Wednesday, West Indies will play against New Zealand at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba from 8:30pm.
