A Former PSA President Reflects On Provisions In The Constitution For The Auditor General

The constitution provides various forms of protection for the Auditor General in the performance of their duties.

These provisions ensure the Office of the Auditor General remains independent and free of any external pressure.

The comments were made by former Public Services Association head, Clyde Weatherhead  as he assessed the internal probe ordered by government through the Finance Minister with respect to the 2023 public accounts controversy.

He reflected on the course of action taken by Attorney General in relation to what is outlined in the Exchequers Act.

The former trade unionist also remarked on the government’s motion to extend the time to present information to the Auditor General which was passed in Parliament recently.
