Miami mother arrested; 6-year-old daughter tests positive for cocaine, marijuana and benzodiazepines

A northeast Miami-Dade woman was arrested and charged for child neglect charge after her 6-year-old daughter tested positive for cocaine, marijuana and benzodiazepines after being taken to a local hospital.

Police officers took 24-year-old Nyla Evans into custody on Monday after the child tested positive on July 9.

The document states that the victim told authorities she was home all day with“mommy.”

The officers report states that the victim said she ate a Lunchable and drank juice and that made her feel dizzy.

She also said she ‘mommy’ but ‘Mommy put me to sleep.’”

Police questioned Evans, who, according to the report, told police that while she does smoke marijuana, she doesn’t do it in front of her daughter. She told officers she had “no idea” how her daughter tested positive for cocaine, marijuana, and benzodiazepines.
