CXC, CSEC and CAPE exams to begin from June 1

Education Minister Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly announced that CXC (CSEC, CAPE) exams will begin from June 1, while the SEA exam will take place on June 10.

Dr. Gadsby-Dolly revealed the dates of the exams during a tour of four schools today.

As secondary schools across Trinidad and Tobago opened their doors today to students of Forms 4-6, Minister of Education Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly and Minister in the Ministry of Education Lisa Morris-Julian were on site to welcome them.

The Ministers and a team of officials visited St. Augustine Secondary, Couva West Secondary, Diego Martin North Secondary and St James Secondary Schools.

During the tours, the team sought to assess the preparedness of the schools with health and safety protocols and the disposition of students and teachers upon their return.

All schools made the necessary preparations according to the Guidelines for Physical Reopening of Schools as issued by the Ministry of Education and, at each venue, students and staff were seen social distancing, sanitizing and wearing masks.

Ministers Gadsby-Dolly and Morris-Julien engaged teachers and students on the visit. “Teachers expressed in many cases that they are happy to have the students back in the classroom to help them prepare their SBAs as, though many students were engaging in the online environment, not all would have been able to perform to the best of their ability on the work to be submitted. Most students also expressed that they are happy to be back at school and are aware and will adhere to the protocols outlined by their schools.”

Today’s visits followed visits to five schools last week ahead of the physical reopening. The Ministry of Education will continue to monitor all schools to ensure that health and safety guidelines are observed for the safety of all stakeholders.
