Webster-Roy urges those facing emotional challenges to seek help following decapitation of Amarah Lallitte

Ayanna Webster-Roy, Minister with responsibility for Gender and Child Affairs, is calling on persons to seek help when faced with overwhelming challenges or emotions.

The Minister issued a statement following the horrific murder of four-year-old Amarah Lallitte in Arouca on Monday night.

Mrs Webster-Roy says help can be accessed through the national social support system which offers free counselling, mediation, food, shelter, and even medical care assistance.

Persons can seek professional help by calling:

The National Family Services Division at 623-2608 (ext. 6701-6711)
Trinidad and Tobago Police Service at 999
The Children’s Authority Hotline at 996 or 800-2014
Childline at 131 or 800-4321
The National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-SAVE (7283)
The Minister insists that all forms of abuse must be eradicated, as there is no excuse for mistreating anyone – man or woman – in an intimate relationship.

She adds that the abuse of children can never be justified, nor should children ever be used as pawns in family conflicts.
